When it can be relevant

Different destinations and accommodation providers apply different procedures at booking and check-in. In some cases, a hotel or host may ask couples to clarify their relationship status before allowing them to share a room or property. This can be more common in destinations with stricter accommodation rules or more formal check-in routines. ResMi Pass is designed to support you in those situations by presenting the relevant information in a consistent format.

What ResMi Pass sets out

The document links your relationship information to your trip. It states the destination or destinations and the relationship status you declare, such as married, cohabiting, or engaged. It also includes core personal details for both individuals, including first and last name, date of birth, email address and phone number, along with an identification reference such as a passport number or national ID number. Where needed, it can include the relationship start date.

Signatures and independent witnesses

ResMi Pass is signed by both individuals in the relationship. Two witnesses aged 18 or over also sign to confirm that they have verified the couple’s signatures. This provides a documented record that the signing has been checked by independent individuals.

Where it may be presented

ResMi Pass may be presented when requested by hotels, resorts, aparthotels, short-term rentals such as Airbnb, and other accommodation providers. It is intended for situations where relationship information is asked for as part of standard procedures.

Traveller responsibility and local requirements

Travellers are responsible for checking the rules and documentation requirements for their destination and trip, including entry requirements, stay conditions, and accommodation rules. ResMi Pass is used as supporting documentation when relationship information is requested and should include only information relevant to the trip.
